Design by Bill P. We are very happy to be working with the UK
Subs. The U.K. Subs were part of the original punk movement in
England that formed in 1976, and were then named the Subversives.
The band's founder, Charlie Harper selected guitarist Nicky Garratt,
bassist Paul Slack, and various drummers under the name "U.K.
Subversives". Their style combined the energy of punk and a rock
and roll edge. The band had hit singles such as "Stranglehold",
"Warhead", "Teenage", and "Tomorrow's Girls", with several of
their songs entering the UK's Top Forty. The band played Peel
sessions in 1977 and 1978, and then signed a contract with GEM
Records. Under GEM, the U.K. Subs recorded an album in 1979 called
Another Kind of Blues. The group also played some opening gigs
for The Police, as well as recording a set at The Roxy, which
was issued in 1980 as Live Kicks.

Kurtis Blow! This poster is to promote the Da True Skool/Kurtis
Blow tour that is going around the country soon. Check out King
Trick's official Godsun Entertainment Myspace page for more
info. Here is some background on Kurtis Blow:
Born in Harlem, New York, Curtis Walker got his start in 1976
as a breakdancer and a block party DJ known by the name of Kool
DJ Kurt. That same year he joined a group called The Force.
Russell Simmons was a lead member of that group. After becoming
an MC he changed his name, to Kurtis Blow (as in body blow). For
a short time Blows regular DJ was Simmons younger
brother Joseph, who was known as DJ Run, from Run-D.M.C. Kurtis
Blow's record was the first major label hip hop release. His second
single, "The Breaks," broke into the top five of Billboard's
R&B chart, and soon after went gold. He made an appearance
in the hip-hop film Krush Groove, where he performed If
I Ruled the World, which was one of his biggest hits.
Design by Bill P. Many thanks to King Trick for getting us involved.
We are extremely honored to be working with Lee Ving and FEAR,
which is an American punk band from Los Angeles, California that
formed in 1977. Credited for helping to shape the sound and style
of American hardcore punk, the band started out as part of the
early California punk rock scene, and gained national prominence
after an infamous 1981 performance on Saturday Night Live and
being a part of the film, The Decline of Western Civilization,
that was also released in 1981. Frontman Lee Ving has been the
band's only constant member. Since their formation, the band went
through various lineup changes and at one point featured Flea
of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass. Don't miss this historic
appearance at the Brick!
